Lisa Sherman serves as an assistant professor of criminal justice at Olivet College. Her areas of expertise include curriculum focus report writing for criminal justice, criminal investigations, police administration, and terrorism and homeland security. Professor Sherman also works with students in the areas of preparation for professional interviews, portfolio completion and the senior capstone thesis.
Previously, Professor Sherman held a career in law enforcement for over 30 years, spending the last six years as Chief of Police in the City of Charlotte. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Olivet College and a master’s degree in criminal justice from Wayne State University. Professor Sherman is also a graduate of the FBI-LEEDA Executive Leadership Institute. Her professional certifications include Evidence/Crime Scene Tech, Crash Reconstructionist, Field Training Officer, Community Policing Liaison, and Police Motorcycle and Mountain Bike Patrol, and she has extensive experience in court testimony and case preparation.
Professor Sherman is the past president of the Michigan Association of Accident Investigators, a previous member of the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police Accreditation Commission, and former executive board member of the Crosswalk Teen Center.
“I enjoy working and spending time at Olive College because of the small and friendly atmosphere, the relationships that can be built, and the opportunities available due to the professionals who work and volunteer on campus,” Professor Sherman said.
