Professor Michael Fredericks has taught in the computer science program at Olivet College since 2002. He teaches a variety of introductory courses, including computer science, information systems, web design, information technology management, management information systems, ethics, and desktop productivity applications.
Professor Fredericks earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University and a master’s degree in information systems administration from Central Michigan University. Prior to joining Olivet, he worked at Lansing Community College as an academic advisor and director of orientation.
Professor Fredericks created the information technology management major at Olivet College to fill a need for experts in the industry, and has graduates placed in major companies throughout the U.S. He is currently creating course curriculum to include components of business analytics and data science. He has been instrumental in aligning Olivet’s computer science program to Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) standards.
Professor Fredericks enthusiastically mentors his students on senior capstone projects including advanced database development, project management, online applications and cybersecurity, advanced web design and development, community outreach through computing, and audio, video and vector art.
