Ross Anderson joined the OC staff as the assistant men’s soccer coach in 2020. He also serves as an assistant coach for the Comet women’s soccer program.

Anderson came to Olivet after a successful three-year coaching stint at Davenport University. He served as the assistant men’s coach from 2016-2019, combining a role as head coach of the reserve team for two seasons (2016 & 2017) with his work for the varsity squad. Anderson’s role with varsity primarily focused on video analysis, game warm-ups and goalkeeper practice.

During his time on staff, Davenport compiled a 25-20-7 record, advancing to the NAIA National Tournament semifinals in 2016, where the Panthers lost on penalty kicks to No. 2-ranked University of Rio Grande. During this season, Davenport had a player named as an NAIA All-American Third Team (Jake Love) and NAIA All-American Honorable Mention (TJ Ifaturoti). In all, the Panthers had five players named to the All-Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) First Team, two named to the All-WHAC Second Team and six NAIA/Daktronics Scholar-Athletes.

In 2017, Anderson helped Davenport win the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament championship game with a 1-0 victory over Saginaw Valley State University. During this season, several players won accolades, including Stephen Carroll (GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year, All-GLIAC First team) and Brogan Shrimpton (GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year, All-GLIAC First Team, D2CCA First Team All-American, D2CCA Midwest Regional Player of the Year).  In all, the Panthers had three All-GLIAC First Team selections and two All-GLIAC Second Team selections.

A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, Anderson coached within the academy of professional club Hibernian FC prior to moving to the United States. He has also coached for Michigan Fire Juniors and Michigan Rush Lansing soccer clubs. In 2013, Anderson graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a bachelor’s of science degree in sport and exercise science/sports coaching. In 2019, he earned a bachelor’s of administration degree in business from Davenport.

Anderson and his wife, Brittney, reside in Grand Ledge with their son Miles (born September 2019).
