Associate Professor of Mathematics
Associate Professor Ross Bohms earned his bachelor’s degree from Olivet College in mathematics and a master’s degree in mathematics from Michigan State University. Though he has taught Nature of Mathematics, Geometry, Statistics, Advanced Calculus and Abstract Algebra, he more frequently teaches College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I, Calculus II and Discrete Mathematics.
Prior to joining the faculty at Olivet College in 2008, Professor Bohms taught mathematics and physical science at Charlotte High School from 1971 to 2008, serving as chair of the mathematics department for about 30 of those years. He also developed the high school’s advanced placement calculus course, which he taught for several years.
While a student at Olivet, Professor Bohms was a member of the Alpha Eta Chapter of Sigma Zeta and the Adelphic Alpha Pi fraternity. He now serves as an adviser for both organizations. Professor Bohms also met his wife, Jennifer, an Olivet College graduate herself, when both were members of the Olivet College Wind Ensemble as students. Since his return to OC as a professor, both Ross and Jennifer have been members of the ensemble again, though not every year. The couple even enjoyed a trip to Rome, Italy, with the group in December 2019, where students were invited to perform in the Rome New year’s Day Parade. The Bohms have lived in Charlotte since 1973.
