Todd E. Long, Ed.D., serves as the Dean of Student Life at Olivet College. He has spent most of his career advocating for students and operationalizing policies, services, and programs to support students. Dr. Long has held administrative positions at various higher education institutions, including a historically black college and university, community college, private university, creative arts college, and K-12 school system. His experience has primarily been in residence life, but it also includes work in student development, mental health and wellness, student conduct, Title IX, campus safety, disability services, co-curricular programs, LGBTQIA+ student services, and international student services. Dr. Long recently served as the Associate Dean of Students and Deputy Title IX Coordinator at a community college in Ohio. He is committed to professional development for his staff, and his focus on his own professional development mirrors the investment that others have made in his growth and success.

Dr. Long received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina Upstate, an M.Ed. in higher education administration from Northeastern University, and an Ed.D. in higher education administration from Benedictine University. As a lifelong learner, he is passionate about improving his knowledge of higher education law and understanding how student conduct impacts student success. Dr. Long has also been active in multiple higher education professional associations and held numerous leadership positions during his career. He has shared his expertise by speaking at two National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) conferences.

In his spare time, Dr. Long enjoys being active at the gym, traveling, watching classic American movies, and rooting for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks sports teams. He was vice president of the Fremont Chapter of the NAACP in Ohio, and he is currently a member of the Urban League of Detroit and a third-degree knight within the Knights of Columbus.
