Will Hagerty joined the full-time Olivet College faculty in 2018 and serves as assistant professor of social sciences after holding the role of adjunct instructor since 2010. Professor Hagerty is especially excited to continue to work with his colleagues in shaping the psychology program to fit the needs of the students.
Professor Hagerty graduated from Olivet College in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He completed his master’s degree in counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2010 and his doctorate degree in psychology from Capella University in 2019.
Professor Hagerty is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan with a National Certified Counselor endorsement from the National Board for Certified Counselors. He has experience in private practice and community counseling settings where he used psychodynamic techniques to address patient needs.
Professor Hagerty has taught an array of courses, including statistics for the social sciences, counseling and psychotherapy, psychology of gender, as well as other psychology and sociology/anthropology courses. In his role as adjunct instructor, he also helped to establish a curriculum in alignment with a social work minor program. He especially enjoys to teach clinical courses that will prepare students to engage in the helping professions and graduate school.
