The Marching Comets

It is the privilege of the Marching Comets to serve as ambassadors to the community, locally and abroad, on behalf of Olivet College. Collectively, we shall represent our alumni, our successors, and ourselves by following our respected Olivet College Compact on the path to excellence. We take pride in providing education, through music, that values student leadership and integrity. In acknowledgment of our supporters, the Marching Comets strive to continually build upon our legacy.  Regardless of the adversity we may face, we will keep marching on… forward 16 and back 8.

Jeremy Duby serves as the director of bands at Olivet College, where he conducts the College Wind Ensemble and Marching Comets. Since his tenure as the director of bands, the program has undergone significant growth and is receiving national and international recognition. In addition to directing the bands at Olivet College, Duby works closely with the college admissions department, meeting with prospective families to guide them through the college selection process. Duby earned his master’s degree in music in wind conducting at Oakland University and his bachelor’s degree in music education from Wayne State University.

Music is an outlet, a mental break in your studies. Over half of our instrumental musicians are not music majors; they are studying to be insurance agents, biologists and journalists. All were strong students in their high school music programs, and continuing to play is a natural fit for them. Jeremy Duby
