Sarah Augustine Storey ’11 gained an appreciation for the mission and vision of Olivet College during her time as a student. Professor Storey focused her undergraduate studies in biology with a pre-medical concentration. Also, while at OC, Professor Storey participated in a variety of campus clubs and organizations, including Alpha Pi Epsilon, the medical honors society, and the Gruen Chemical Society. In addition, she attended many trips with the service program, her favorite being a trip to Lima, Peru.
Professor Storey continued her studies in anatomy upon graduating from Olivet, earning a master’s degree from Des Moines University. During her graduate studies, Professor Storey began developing her teaching pedagogy, delivering lessons in many subjects with a focus on anatomy, embryology and histology. In 2014, Professor Storey traveled to St. Maarten, a French and Dutch-owned island near Puerto Rico, to complete her first two years of medical school education at the American University of the Caribbean. While attending medical school, Professor Storey realized her passion for teaching was something she couldn’t ignore, and was quick to accept the opportunity to join the faculty at Olivet College.
Professor Storey has always recognized the opportunities a small liberal arts school is able to provide students, and how far they can take them in pursuing their goals, the fuel that has pushed her to return to Olivet College. She is most excited to be on the other side of the classroom, and to provide a relationships-based education to students through small class sizes.
