Professor Craig Korpela earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, a master’s in history from Oakland University and a doctorate in public administration from Western Michigan University.
Prof. Korpela has studied the Finno-Soviet Winter War and the Finnish–American immigrant experience. His dissertation research explored federal cabinet and sub-cabinet sexual scandals. As an instructor, Prof. Korpela assists student development by guiding experiential learning in the form of internships, job shadows and travel to Maine, Washington, D.C., and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Students he has mentored at Olivet College are practicing law, educating public school students and pursuing graduate degrees at Swansea College, the University of Scotland in Edinburgh and other colleges throughout the United States.
