Women’s and Gender Studies
This program is intended to increase your knowledge, interest and appreciation of needs, contributions, problems and aspirations of women – and also of the way that gender shapes the lives of both women and men. Women’s and gender studies will enhance the subject matter of any major from the perspective of women and gender. The courses within the minor emphasize cultural diversity and the varied experiences faced by women in the United States and the world. The interdisciplinary nature of the program provides an opportunity to examine a variety of theoretical/critical perspectives (e.g., historical, sociological, legal, psychological, ethnographic, scientific, political, aesthetic).
The following is an overview of courses associated with this minor. We encourage you to speak with a faculty representative during your on-campus visit for detailed information about your specific program interests.
