OC Admissions Reps
“I am passionate about helping students reach their goal of a college degree because not many people were willing to help me,” Tyler explained. “I can remember being in high school and not thinking college was even an option for someone like me. I appreciate the ones who took the time to help me realize it was possible, including many staff and faculty members at Olivet College. I hope I can be that positive influence to other students as someone who was once in their shoes.”
Prior to joining the admissions team, Tyler developed his leadership, relationship-building and adaptability skills as president of OC’s Black Student Union and captain of the Comet football team. Further, Tyler was honored with the Dr. John W. Porter Community Responsibility Scholarship in 2017, recognizing his work developing an annual service project with the Mid-Michigan Leadership Academy and other contributions on campus. Through these experiences, Tyler had the opportunity to cultivate lifelong relationships with friends, mentors and others. As an admissions representative, Tyler now hopes to join the success and support networks of new students.
“I want to help students find the place they can see themselves graduating from,” Tyler said. “Getting accepted and getting started are just a part of the college admissions process. The end goal is to graduate and reap the benefits that come with having a college degree.”
Tyler is excited to share the Olivet College mission, which resonates with him closely, with future Comets. He serves students from Oakland, Wayne, Lapeer, Macomb and St. Clair counties.
