New Student Orientation 2021
New Student Orientation is the first step to officially becoming an Olivet College Comet. Relationship building is vital to student success here at OC. Due to circumstances concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, the New Student Orientation program has been adjusted to ensure that future Comets and their families remain healthy and safe as they transition into the Olivet community.
New Student Orientation is offered as a hybrid of virtual content and on-campus engagement. This dual approach will provide students with multiple opportunities to connect with fellow members of the Class of 2025, faculty mentors, academic advisers, coaches, talent directors and other staff members across campus. Our goal is that the transition to college life is information, engaging and FUN!
Orientation will take place in three phases: Phase 1 and Phase 3 will be delivered virtually, while Phase 2 will consist of an on-campus experience. Please read the information below to review the details of each orientation phase. Registration and checklists are all located on the student’s application status page. Please log in to start your Orientation experience.
What can I expect in Phase 1 of my New Student Orientation?
Phase 1 of New Student Orientation consists of completing a few checklist items to prepare for Phase 2 activities. These items are required to be completed prior to attending. Please log into your application status page to review your checklist items, which includes the following:
- Complete the Orientation Survey
- Register for a New Orientation date
- Schedule a virtual Financial Aid meeting
- Accept your Financial Aid Award Letter
- Submit Housing Application
- Access your MyOlivet Student Portal
What can I expect in Phase 2 of my New Student Orientation?
Phase 2 is an in-person, on-campus experience where students will connect directly with the campus community to prepare for the fall semester. Relationship-building continues to be an important part of the Olivet College experience, so Phase 2 is designed to be engaging, interactive, informative and FUN!

What dates are you offering on-campus New Student Orientations?
We have created nine New Student Orientation dates throughout June, July and August for students and parents to attend. Students must register for ONE of these dates via their application status page. All deposited students are encouraged to sign up for an Orientation sooner rather than later since dates fill up extremely fast.
Who will I connect with while I’m on campus?
Continuing to connect students with the campus community is vital to your success here at Olivet College. Therefore, we will have the opportunity to connect you with people from all across campus:
- Academics – faculty, advisors, academic mentors
- Admissions – staff members
- Athletics – coaches and student-athletes
- Student Services – financial aid, FAFSA, award letter, payment plans, billing
- Student Engagement – clubs and organization, academic resources, Housing
- And MORE!
Our community is excited to learn more about you and make sure you’re prepped and prepared for the upcoming semester.
What are the protocols and policies required due to the COVID-19 pandemic?
The safety of our students and parents is the most important component taken into considering when creating a fun and engaging Orientation experience this year.
The Olivet College community has created a comprehensive “OC Cares” document that dives deeper into our response to COVID-19 and the policies and protocols that our campus community follows. Please be sure to read the OC Cares document and stay updated with our COVID response plan.
New Student Orientation follows the policies and guidelines included in the OC Cares document.
Phase 3 of New Student Orientation will continue to connect students with the campus community leading up to move-in and the first day of classes. More information regarding Phase 3 will be available later this summer.
Students can view their Orientation progress and sign up for sessions on their application status page.
