Students awarded the scholarship must complete 25 hours of local community service a semester, coordinate fall and spring Service Day projects, and participate in Difference Maker meetings. This opportunity is for new, admitted, residential students who demonstrate through an essay, video or other creative submission the positive ways in which they have made a difference in their communities, schools or organizations.

Jacob Richards ’18
In his role as community service coordinator, Jacob Richards ’18 oversees the Difference Maker Scholarship Program. His passion for service learning began during his time as a student, and Jacob had the opportunity to help others around Michigan, the United States and even the world including Tennessee, South Carolina, Louisiana and Costa Rica. In addition, Jacob also leads the Service Day efforts, held annually in the fall and spring, when Olivet College students dedicate an entire day to giving back on campus and in surrounding communities.
