Music Scholarships

The Music Talent Scholarship is awarded to students who have a passion for music, but are not part of a marching band or gospel choir. If you sing in a choir, play in a jazz band or play the piano, guitar or other instrument and want to continue to develop your knowledge and skills while having opportunities to perform, we strongly encourage you to apply for the Music Scholarship Program. You do not have to be a music major or minor to apply.

Students with considerable talent will be considered for the Music Talent Scholarship program. Qualified students will be asked to audition. Scholarships up to $3,000 are available for award based on experience and talent.

Jeremy Duby serves as the director of bands at Olivet College, where he conducts the College Wind Ensemble and Marching Comets. Since his tenure as the director of bands, the program has undergone significant growth and is receiving national and international recognition. In addition to directing the bands at Olivet College, Duby works closely with the college admissions department, meeting with prospective families to guide them through the college selection process. Duby earned his master’s degree in music in wind conducting at Oakland University and his bachelor’s degree in music education from Wayne State University.

Music is an outlet, a mental break in your studies. Over half of our instrumental musicians are not music majors; they are studying to be insurance agents, biologists and teachers. All were strong students in their high school music programs, and continuing to play is a natural fit for them.
