Applying for Financial Aid
Learn what you need to apply for financial aid, scholarships, and student loans.
Many families believe they cannot afford to attend a private college. What many people do not take into consideration is that there are numerous types of financial aid available to help students pay for college. In addition to state and federal grants, student loans and work opportunities, Olivet offers a variety of financial aid opportunities. Aid is awarded based on considerations such as student need and academic merit.
There are three kinds of financial assistance available to students: scholarships, grants and loans. Scholarships and grants come in a variety of forms and do not require students and parents to repay any of these resources. Most student loans require repayment within a specified time period after graduation.
Students can receive need-based monies. To be eligible to receive financial aid, students must complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Beginning with the 2017-18 FAFSA, students will be able to submit forms earlier and report income and tax information from an earlier tax year.

- If you plan to attend college from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019, you will submit the 2018-19 FAFSA between Oct. 1, 2017 – June 30, 2019 and use 2016 income and tax information.
